Rene Adler will miss a majority of Hamburg’s preseason training with knee injury

Hamburg’s number one goalkeeper will miss the club’s preseason in order to rehab a knee injury suffered while with the German national team.

Rene Adler is going to miss all of Hamburg’s preseason in order to properly rehab an injury. He apparently suffered the injury while with the German national team on their summer tour of the United States.

The 28 year old goalkeeper suffered a minor capsular tear in his left knee in the first match on the “tour” against Ecuador. He did complete all 90 minutes in goal for Die Nationalmannschaft. Adler did not feature at all for Germany against the United States.

Hamburg are about to embark on a trip to Austria for their preseason training, but Adler will remain in Hamburg for training.

“In Hamburg, I’m in the best possible place to speed up the recovery process.”

The club expects him to be back in time and ready to go by the beginning of August for their match against SV SCHOTT Jena in the first round of the DFB Pokal
