Giuseppe Sannino confirmed as Chievo Verona’s new coach

Giuseppe Sannino will take charge of Chievo Verona next season, replacing the outgoing Eugenio Corini.

Chievo Verona has finally officially confirmed Giuseppe Sannino will take over next season. He arrives at the Marc'Antonio Bentegodi in place of Eugenio Corini, who resigned in May despite having kept the Flying Donkeys comfortably in the top division.

Sannino impressed in his first experience in Serie A at Siena a couple of seasons ago, before being rewarded with a move to Palermo prior to the start of the last campaign. He was munched by the rosanero's coach-eating president Maurizio Zamparini after just three league games, though was brought back with the Sicilian club staring relegation in the face. Despite Sannino's best efforts, the deficit proved to be insurmountable and Palermo dropped into Serie B.

Nevertheless, Sannino is a solid appointment for Chievo, having been linked with much bigger jobs since he managed to keep Siena in Serie A. Tactically versatile and a defensively-sound coach, he should fit in perfectly in Verona, where he’ll be tasked with maintaining the Flying Donkeys’ typically tough-to-beat style and keeping them in the top division once again.
