The signing of the 23-year-old Asier Illarramendi was made official by Real Madrid, with the midfielder joining Los Merengues for a reported fee of €38 million. One of the best talents in the Spanish team that won the European Under-21 Championship this summer, Illarramendi has arrived in Madrid after over ten years at his boyhood club.
Real Madrid sign Asier Illarramendi
Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of young midfielder Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad.

The young midfielder came to establish himself as a regular in the Real Sociedad first team over the last couple of seasons, and will play next season alongside Xabi Alonso -- a player to whom he's often compared. A midfielder capable of recovering possession and distributing from deep, Illarramendi should prove to be a great long-term acquisition.
He is the latest in a string of talented young players Real Madrid have purchased this summer, with attacking midfielder Isco and full-back Dani Carvajal -- who are both also part of the scarily successful Spain U-21 setup -- arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Carlo Ancelotti era is getting off to an exciting start.
