Gerardo Martino has been confirmed as the new manager of Barcelona, as he steps into the role recently vacated by Tito Vilanova; who stepped down to continue treatment for cancer.
Barcelona confirm Gerardo Martino appointment
Barcelona have confirmed the appointment of Gerardo Martino as the club’s new manager, as the Argentine steps in to replace Tito Vilanova.

"The agreement is pending the drafting and signing of the contract," the club stated on their official website. "In the next few hours, the timetable of his arrival in Barcelona, the signing of the contract and his presentation to the media will be firmed up."
Martino, who was backed by Lionel Messi in recent days to become the new manager, will take over on a two-year deal. He is regarded as a staunch disciple of the club's possession-based philosophy, and will be expected to uphold Barcelona's style of play.
A pressing matter for Martino to attend, however, will be a rumoured third bid from Manchester United for Cesc Fabregas, as the club attempts to finalise their squad as the transfer window rolls on.
