Spain and Ecuador managed to learn very little about themselves from their friendly on Wednesday, but at least the fans in attendance got to see a couple of nice goals, even if they wished the other team was the one who scored them. Alvaro Negredo and Santi Cazorla both scored in very solid performances as La Roja won 2-0.
Ecuador vs. Spain: Final score 0-2 in a forgettable one
A couple of nice goals and not much else happened.
Negredo’s goal was an absolute beauty, though the defending left quite a bit to be desired. In the 25th minute, Cazorla had a shot saved, but Ecuador couldn’t clear. He eventually got the ball back and squared for Negredo, who finished with a cheeky backheel.
Cazorla netted the second goal in the 63rd minute from just inside the penalty area, finishing low and to the near post after picking up a pass from Christian Tello.
Ecuador looked mildly threatening on some decent direct attacks down the flanks, but never really got much of anything going as Spain held on for a comfortable win.
