Eintracht Frankfurt and manager Armin Veh have moved to bolster their forward ranks with the signing of Sparta Prague’s Václav Kadlec. The 21 year old has signed a four year contract that will keep him at the Commerzbank-Arena through the summer of 2017.

Looking to add depth up top, Eintracht Frankfurt have brought in Václav Kadlec from Sparta Prague.

Sporting director Bruno Hübner is pleased with the move for the talented youngster:
“We are delighted that the deal came together after all. Kadlec has plenty of potential to become a good Bundesliga player, although we need to give him time to adjust to the league. Manager Armin Veh was very keen on signing Kadlec and it’s great that we managed to seal the deal.”
Kadlec made his debut for Sparta Prague and scored his first goal while still 16 years old. Over the years, he’s made 146 appearances and knocked in 39 goals.
Last season, Frankfurt surprised everyone by finishing 6th and qualifying for this season’s Europa League. They finished sixth in most goals scored and fewest goals conceded. Overall, it’s tough to argue that the season was anything other than perfectly balanced for the die adler. However, there was one area on the field that they lacked the quality to really make a push for a spot in the Champions League. They needed a goal scoring forward.
Frankfurt’s stable of forwards last season was inept at best. Srđan Lakić was the leading goalscorer of the forwards with four goals, and he joined on loan from Wolfsburg in January. Lakić started brilliantly with two goals in his first match, but he only managed two for the rest of the season.
With the club in three competitions this season, it’s mandatory that they build up some depth if they have any hope of actually performing well in any of them. Alexander Meier, Stefan Aigner and Takashi Inui had outstanding seasons last year, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll continue that impressive form this season. You can’t rely on your midfield to score all of your goals again.
This summer, the club has already brought in Joselu from Hoffenheim on a one year loan and Jan Rosenthal on a three year deal from Freiburg. Both moves are positive and should help alleviate some of the strain on the aforementioned players from last season’s stellar campaign.
