Maybe La Liga isn’t a two-team race? Okay, it still probably is, but Atletico Madrid is giving us enough reason to keep them in the discussion for now and, let’s be honest, we will jump at the chance to throw anyone new into the title conversation.
La Liga Sunday: Atletico Madrid dominate, Celta win and Sevilla draw Levante
Atletico Madrid put on a show once again, while Celta won away, but Sevilla and Levante played to a stalemate.

Atletico Madrid 5-0 Rayo Vallecano
Hopes were high at the Calderon after Atletico started the season with a 3-1 win over Sevilla and hopes are even higher after the show that they put on Sunday. Raul Garcia scored after 17 minutes and Diego doubled the score three minutes later. Arda Turan also scored to give Atletico a 3-0 halftime lead then Tiago added a second half goal and Garcia made it a brice in the 90th minute to put a ribbon on a dominating win for the home side.
In a season where most of La Liga’s challengers for European placers took a step back (aside from Real Madrid and Barcelona, of course), Atletico looks to have taken a step forward despite the loss of Radamel Falcao. It’s still early, but they couldn’t look any better and if a few things break for them, they just may be able to give the top two a little scare.
Levante 0-0 Sevilla
Sevilla dominated play in Valencia, but it wasn’t enough for them to walk away with three points. They only put three of their 18 shots on frame and had to settle for a draw in what became a very physical match, with the two teams combining for eight yellow cards.
Real Betis 1-2 Celta Vigo
It took nearly 70 minutes for someone to find the net in Seville and unfortunately for the home fans, it was Celta Vigo who broke the deadlock. Charles found the net after 67 minutes and to make things worse for Betis, Nolito added another seven minutes later to double Celta’s lead.
Real Betis was the better side for long stretches, but they were sloppy in front of goal and paid for it. By the time they finally broke through in the 90th minute, it was too late. Celta were taking three points back to Vigo.
