With the acquisition of Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur, one might expect Real Madrid's summer spending to be done. After all, it's not like they can afford to go crazy in the market -- they've just dropped about €100 million on one player, and weren't exactly cheap before then.
Could Liverpool and Real Madrid really be discussing a Suarez deal?
It doesn’t seem likely, but there’s talk that Real Madrid are lining up for a last-minute Luis Suarez swoop.

But ...
BOOM! Real Madrid is negotiating a last minute deal with Luis Suarez!
— Tancredi Palmeri (@tancredipalmeri) September 1, 2013
Although Palmeri’s reputation has taken a bit of a battering this summer, he doesn’t simply make things up, so this is worth thinking through. Let’s do that, then.
- Liverpool won't want to sell Suarez (although they're doing fine without him), and will demand huge money.
- Real Madrid might want to buy him to upgrade on Karim Benzema, but probably don't have the cash available to make it happen.
- Suarez definitely wants out of Anfield.
There’s motivation from two parties, but it’s difficult to see Madrid being able to stump up the €50 million-odd to buy Suarez unless they already have a Benzema sale in place. The world would have to go seriously crazy for this to happen. Then again, the world’s pretty crazy right now. Still, we’re going with no for now.
