After the last matchday’s disappointing draw with SC Freiburg, Pep Guardiola’s side needed to come out and take all three points against Hannover 96 to avoid falling behind the pace being set by Borussia Dortmund. They succeeded on Saturday with a 2-0 victory at home.

Two second half goals helped see Bayern Munich back atop the Bundesliga table, at least temporarily.

Bayern finally cracked the deadlock in the 51st minute with some fantastic one-touch football. Arjen Robben played the ball out to the left side of the penalty area to an on-rushing Toni Kroos. With his first touch, Kroos laid the ball back across the middle to Mario Mandzukic for the shot and goal to give Bayern the 1-0 advantage.
The second goal came in the 64th minute off the boot of Franck Ribery. The Frenchman played a through ball to Robben, but his shot was well blocked by Ron-Robert Zieler. However, Ribery was on hand to lash the rebound past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. With the 2-0 advantage, Bayern were well on their way to victory.
Bayern will go top the of the table temporarily while Borussia Dortmund play the late game today. The win is a confidence booster for the side as they get ready to welcome CSKA Moscow to the Allianz Arena in the Champions League this week.
Hannover have been continuing their normal form at the start of this season with incredible performances at home and absolute garbage on the road. They have three wins out of three at home with a 8-2 goal differential. On the road, they’ve lost two and have yet to score while conceding five.
