FC Luzern’s owner has a plan to increase attendance, Swiss League not impressed

If you’re team is struggling to fill up the stadium, there’s only one thing to do...hire exotic dancers.

Swiss club FC Luzern have been struggling to fill their 17,000 seat stadium every week and the team’s majority owner Bernhard Alpstäg has a plan to get more people in the seats.

Exotic dancers.

In an interview with the Swiss daily newspaper Blick, Alpstäg laid out his plan and the logic behind it.

“We have to be even more attractive, I want a show before kickoff. I want scantily clad strippers and sexy dancers to entertain fans before the game. The stadium would be full - that’s guaranteed.”

Unfortunately for Alpstäg, the Swiss Pro League has shut down his plan saying that league rules only allow players, referees and authorized broadcast team members to enter the field inside an hour before kickoff.

When asked about the plan, the Swiss League senior manager Edmond Isoz said that there was “no time and no space, especially for shows” on the field before the match.

Oh well.

Alpstäg has made a lot of money in his life since taking over his father’s business, along with his brother, nearly 40 years ago. The Alpstäg brothers have built the swisspor Group into a manufacturing giant that sells over $750 million in product per year.

Obviously he’s knows business and how to be successful at making money, so while his plan might have its merits, it doesn’t look like he’s going to get a chance to try it.
