Barcelona and Ajax get their Champions League campaigns underway today with what is expected to be a stroll in the park for the Spanish giants. Armed with Lionel Messi, Neymar and the rest of the always excellent Barcelona crew, Tata Martino should have an easy three points coming to him at the Camp Nou against an overmatched Ajax side.
Barcelona vs. Ajax: Lineups
Xavi Hernandez gets a rest for Barcelona, who should have no problem with Ajax.
Martino has chosen to give Xavi Hernandez a rest, while Javier Mascherano continues to man a place in central defense in the absence of Carles Puyol. Ajax have taken measures to stop Dani Alves and Alexis Sanchez on the right, starting Nicolai Boilesen on the left wing, forward from his normal left back spot. Amazingly, Siem de Jong is in the starting XI just five weeks after suffering a collapsed lung.
Barcelona: Victor Valdés; Dani Alves, Gerard Piqué, Javier Mascherano, Adriano; Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fàbregas, Andres Iniesta; Alexis Sanchez, Lionel Messi, Neymar.
Ajax: Kenneth Vermeer; Ricardo van Rhijn, Niklas Moisander, Stefano Denswil, Daley Blind; Siem de Jong, Christian Poulsen, Lerin Duarte; Bojan Krkic, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, Nicolai Boilesen.
