Atletico Madrid sign Toby Alderweireld and Joshua Guiavogui
Toby Alderweireld and Joshua Guiavogui are headed to the Calderon.

The moves should strengthen the Atleti defense, with Alderweireld providing another option in central defense and Guiavogui is an athletic defensive midfielder who should provide a nice shield for the backline. The highly rated Alderweireld had been the subject of rumors throughout the summer, with Liverpool reportedly interested in the Belgium international, but he has chosen to make the move to Spain instead. Guivogui is a rangy player with a tremendous workrate and still more potential that he has shown in Ligue 1, which has earned him a pair of France call ups this year.
Atletico are off to a flying start to their season, having taken nine points from their first three matches by a combined score of 10-2 and playing Barcelona tough in the Supercopa, falling only on away goals. Real Madrid and Barcelona are still the top two in Spain, and nobody expects that to change, but Atletico appears set to make third place theirs for the year.
