Sunderland sit bottom of the Premier League table with just one point from five games, and Saturday's performance might have been their worst so far. They never looked threatening, what with constantly misplaced passes to accompany their poor defending in an awful performance at The Hawthornes. West Bromwich Albion had absolutely no problem recording a 3-0 victory.

Former Sunderland man Stephane Sessegnon scored the opener in his first match against his old team, cleaning up a scramble in front of goal. Kieren Westwood made a save on Scott Sinclair's initial attempt, but Sessegnon was in perfect position to finish off the chance from close range.
Very little happened between the two teams from then until the second goal, though West Brom was well on top. Left back Liam Ridgewell put the result to rest in the 76th minute, making a great back post run to tap in a cross. Morgan Amalfitano -- West Brom's best attacker on the night -- had a cross towards the center of the box deflected away by Westwood. Unfortunately for the Sunderland keeper, he tipped the ball right to Ridgewell, who applied an easy finish.
Amalfitano got a deserved goal of his own in the 90th minute, scoring from 12 yards with a low shot to the far post that was assisted by Victor Anichebe.
