DFB Pokal, Second Round: 1860 Munich host Borussia Dortmund; Hannover and Bayern Munich meet again

The two big matches of the second round of the DFB Pokal are 1860 Munich hosting Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich hosting Hannover 96.

Preußen Münster vs. FC Augsburg

Augsburg have been playing some quality ball in recent weeks. They should continue it to move on to the next round

Prediction: Preußen Münster 1-2 FC Augsburg

SC Wiedenbrück vs. SV Sandhausen

Prediction: SC Wiedenbrück 1-3 SV Sandhausen

1860 Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund

I’m going way out on a limb here, but I’m going to pick 1860 Munich to upset Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. BVB are in an odd place. The Allianz Arena will be packed for a change during an 1860 match, but BVB will be bringing 15000 supporters. BVB could be without Mats Hummels, Marco Reus, and Marcel Schmelzer in this match. If I had to pick the game changer for 1860, it’s going to be Moritz Stoppelkamp. Of course, BVB could also win this game by four goals.

Prediction: 1860 Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

VfL Wolfsburg vs. VfR Aalen

I've been tossing the idea of Dieter Hecking's club not getting up for this match. It's very possible that they'll be looking forward to the massie weekend match against Bayern Munich. I can't pick against them right now.

Prediction: VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 VfR Aalen

Arminia Bielefeld vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen might find themselves in a fight in this match if they're unable to find a goal during the first half of the match. Bielefeld are no slouches and can score goals as well. However, Bielefeld's weak link is their defense, and Stefan Kießling is salivating.

Prediction: Arminia Bielefeld 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen

Hamburger SV vs. Greuther Fürth

I’m tired of picking Hamburg to lose all the time. They’re hiring Bert Van Marwijk. Are they going to have wait until he actually is on the sidelines to get the new manager bump? No. This match will be tough. Greuther Fürth, once again, look like a side that will be fighting for promotion at the end of the season.

Prediction: Hamburger SV 2-1 Greuther Fürth

1899 Hoffenheim vs. Energie Cottbus

Hoffenheim can score a lot of goals, but they also struggle to defend. Lucky for them, they’re facing Cottbus who basically do the exact same thing. There will be goals.

Prediction: 1899 Hoffenheim 5-3 Energie Cottbus

Mainz 05 vs. 1. FC Köln

Mainz really need a good performance to kind of reignite their league campaign. After opening the season with three straight wins, they’ve lost their last three by a combined scoreline of 9-2. Thomas Tuchel has the opportunity to help his side get back on the winning way; however, Köln will be a tough opponent. Peter Stöger has his side winning games and Anthony scoring goals.

Prediction: Mainz 05 3-2 1. FC Köln

1. FC Saarbrücken vs. SC Paderborn

Prediction: 1. FC Saarbrücken 1-2 SC Paderborn

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. VfL Bochum

Prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 4-1 VfL Bochum

FSV Frankfurt vs. Ingolstadt

Ingolstadt are quite the awful football team at this moment. It’s tough for me to see anyway in which they walk out of Frankfurt a winner.

Prediction: FSV Frankfurt 3-0 Ingolstadt

1. FC Kaiserslautern vs. Hertha Berlin

Jos Luhukay’s side needs a good performance, and they should get it against a struggling Kaiserslautern.

Prediction: 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1-2 Hertha Berlin

VfL Osnabrück vs. Union Berlin

Prediction: VfL Osnabrück 0-1 Union Berlin

Darmstadt 09 vs. Schalke 04

This will be a “redemption match” for Schalke after the weekend’s awful 4-0 beatdown from Bayern Munich. I can’t see the 3.Liga side having much of a shot in this one.

Prediction: Darmstadt 09 0-4 Schalke 04

Bayern Munich vs. Hannover 96

Ten days ago, Bayern Munich beat Hannover in Munich to the 2-0 scoreline. Hannover can’t win away from home. It’s not going to be any different this week.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-0 Hannover 96

SC Freiburg vs. VfB Stuttgart

The start to the season for Freiburg hasn’t been everything that they wanted, but a win over Stuttgart would be a nice boost to their campaign. Stuttgart are unbeaten since they dismissed Bruno Labbadia and promoted Thomas Schneider to the head coaching position. More good things to come their way this week?

Prediction: SC Freiburg 1-2 VfB Stuttgart
