The Republic of Ireland hosts Sweden in an extremely important match between the fourth and fifth-places teams in Group C. Both teams are tied on points with Austria, but there's a sizable goal differential keeping Ireland and the Swedes out of a playoff spot for the moment.
Ireland vs. Sweden, 2014 World Cup qualifying: Preview and TV schedule
Sweden faces Ireland with both sides looking to potentially claim second place in their qualifying group.
With Austria facing Germany, it's reasonably to assume that a potential winner of this match could move up to second place.
Sweden’s form in qualifying has been extremely inconsistent and their record in Ireland is less than impressive, with their last win there coming in 1950. They’ll need a massive game from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which really isn’t a secret, to get a result. Rasmus Elm is out with an injury and Anders Granqvist is suspended.
Ireland are boosted by the return to fitness of Marc Wilson and first-choice goalkeeper David Forde. Robbie Keane also make his return for the Irish. Aiden McGeady’s knee problems will keep him out of the match.
Match Date/Time: 7:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. ET
Venue: Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland
TV: GolTV (U.S.), Sky Sports 2 (U.K.), GolTV (Canada)
