The United States went down 2-0 early against Costa Rica and could have very easily trailed by three or four goals at halftime. Instead, they're down by just one, thanks to some poor finishing from the Ticos and a bad piece of goalkeeping by Keylor Navas. He hauled down Fabian Johnson in the box late in the half and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.
USMNT back in it against Costa Rica thanks to Keylor Navas
Navas’ foul was a pretty obvious one.
Clint Dempsey stepped up and took a pretty poor penalty, but Navas couldn't keep it out, instead deflecting it into the back of the net.
Despite all kinds of disastrous play, the U.S. are only down 2-1 at the half and have a chance to steal a point (or three) in San Jose, despite having no business doing so.
