Nikica Jelavic sold to Hull City

Everton have just one fit striker left on the books, and he’s a loanee.

Clive Brunskill

The Premier League's biggest surprise team have solidified their attack by signing Nikica Jelavic, adding the Croatian striker from Everton on a permanent transfer. While Jelavic has not scored in the league this season, he does have 21 goals for Everton in 69 appearances and scored at a very impressive rate for Rangers and Rapid Vienna.

Hull currently sit 10th in the Premier League despite their small budget and lack of a serious scoring threat up top. Yannick Sagbo leads all strikers with two goals while Danny Graham has just one. Winger Robert Brady leads the club with three Premier League goals.

Given that Everton only has one fit striker -- loanee Romelu Lukaku -- they'll almost certainly be in the market for a Jelavic replacement this January. Lukaku is unlikely to remain at Everton beyond this season and probably shouldn't be counted on to carry the load alone this season. Standard Liege's Michy Batshuayi, Heerenveen's Alfred Finnbogason and FC Twente's Dusan Tadic have all been linked to the Merseyside club.
