Everton have confirmed the signing of Lacina Traoré on loan from AS Monaco until the end of the season. The Ivorian international only just joined the French club from Anzhi Makhachkala earlier this month, though they’ve deemed him surplus to first team requirements and have allowed him to temporarily join the Toffees.

A statement on Everton's website revealed that the forward requires a visa before making his debut:
“Traore, a 23-year-old Ivory Coast international, was granted a work permit on Tuesday and terms for the completion of the deal have now been agreed. The forward will require a visa before playing for the Toffees, a formality that is expected to be completed in the coming days.”
It's no surprise that Everton manager Roberto Martínez has moved to bring in another forward, with the Toffees short on them after losing Nikica Jelavić to Hull City and Arouna Koné to injury. With Apostolos Vellios seemingly not in Martínez's first team plans, Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku was pretty much the sole remaining center-forward before Traoré's arrival.
Now they’ve got some cover -- but with both likely to return to their respective parent clubs at the end of the season, it’s only a temporary fix.
