Kim Källström linked with Arsenal loan switch

In one of the strangest transfer rumours of the window, Swedish midfielder Kim Källström has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Arsenal have bizarrely been linked with a move for Spartak Moscow midfielder Kim Källström on loan. According to the Guardian, the Swedish veteran was having his medical at lunchtime, and is expected to complete the switch before the transfer deadline on Friday.

Källström definitely isn’t the sort of player that would lead Arsenal to the Premier League title, though the 31-year-old would provide much-needed depth with the Gunners’ central midfield stretched to breaking point. Quoted in the Guardian, manager Arsène Wenger said:

“We still try to bring at least one body in because we are a bit hit now by the red card of Flamini, the setback of Ramsey and the fact that Wilshere is not available, which I hope will be short term,” Wenger said. “We are in an area where we had plenty of players ... suddenly we are a bit short.”

Källström has received over a century of caps for Sweden, and moved to Spartak Moscow from Lyon back in 2012.
