Liverpool has made three changes from their narrow home victory over Ludogrets two weeks ago. Brendan Rogers gives Martin Skrtel the start in the defense, along with José Enrique at left back. The midfield trip of Gerrard, Henderson and Coutinho remains unchanged, but up top, Adam Lallana makes way for Lazar Marković.
Liverpool not risking Daniel Sturridge against FC Basel
Brendan Rogers has made three changes from the lineup that barely escaped against Ludogrets on matchday one

Daniel Sturridge might be the more logical choice to play on the right side but it appears Rogers doesn’t want to risk the speedy attacker.
Basel head coach Paulo Sousa, who loves to tinker with formations and playing personal in various places appears to have his side lined up in a 3-4-3 formation with Taulant Xhaka anchoring a three-man back line and Behrang Safari and Fabian Frei serving as wing backs. Ahmed Hamoudi, Marco Streller and Breel Embolo will lead the attack ... presumably.
Basel (3-4-3): Tomáš Vaclík; Fabian Schär, Taulant Xhaka, Marek Suchý; Behrang Safari, Mohamed Elneny, Serey Die, Fabian Frei; Ahmed Hamoudi, Marco Streller, Breel Embolo.
Liverpool (4-3-3): Simon Mignolet; Alberto Moreno, Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren, José Enrique; Steven Gerrard, Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson; Raheem Sterling, Mario Balotelli, Lazar Marković
