Germany vs. Republic of Ireland, Euro 2016 qualifying: Final score 1-1, John O’Shea stuns Germany in stoppage time
John O’Shea scored nearly four minutes into second half stoppage time to earn a draw for the Irish.

The first half was a fairly quiet, though the Germans came ever so close to taking an early lead when Erik Durm hit the crossbar in the 5th minute. The defender’s shot from 25-yards out went up and over goalkeeper David Forde, but hammered squarely off the crossbar.
Finally in the 71st minute Germany broke the scoreless deadlock thanks to a strong individual effort from Toni Kroos. The midfielder dribbled forward towards the Irish penalty area, dancing right to create space before firing a rocket past Forde, putting the Germans up 1-0.
In the final 30 seconds of stoppage time, John O’Shea stunned the Germans. Wes Hoolahan’s cross towards the far post was corralled by Jeff Hendrick who centered it back in front of goal where O’Shea heart his marker by inches, getting his boot on the ball, directing it past Manuel Neuer.
Ireland remains in second place in Group D, three points clear of Germany who are in third.
