Marcelo Bielsa is borderline insane, with a helping of brilliant and a little bit of strange. Now we can add generous, kind and nostalgic to what makes up “El Loco.”
Marcelo Bielsa donates €1.6 million to former club Newell’s Old Boys
He’s such a softie.

The Olympique Marseille manager donated €1.6 million to his former club, Newell’s Old Boys, according to Clarin. The money will go towards helping build the hotel adjacent to their stadium, which the players will stay at the night before matches. Work has already begun on the hotel and it will be finished by next season.
Bielsa has led Marseille to the top of Ligue 1 in his first season at the club, doing so on the back of seven straight wins. Way back in 1977, Bielsa began his playing career at Newell’s and in 1990, he got his first managerial job with the club. Bielsa even grew up as a fan of the club, making it his favorite team through and through. Now he’s done his bit to help them with a very big donation.
