Daniel Sturridge will not be back on the pitch anytime soon. The Liverpool striker, who has been out for six weeks with a thigh injury, hurt his calf in training and will now miss another 2-4 weeks.

The Reds’ striker was supposed to return on Sunday, but that won’t be happening.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed the injury to the Liverpool Echo. Sturridge was expected to make his return on Sunday against Queens Park Rangers and was training at full speed when he picked up the injury on Friday.
Sturridge has already missed four league matches, as well as two Champions League contests and a Capital One Cup clash. Now he will miss at least two more league matches and a European meeting with Real Madrid, if not more.
The Reds have done a decent job scoring without Sturridge, scoring eight goals in seven matches, but that is hardly the prolific output that the team have become accustomed to with their striker and certainly not good enough considering their shaky defense. Liverpool need to get Sturridge back and they need to start scoring more, but that is at least two weeks away now, if not four.
