La Liga scores, week 8: Barça and Madrid win ahead of El Clásico

The stage is set for next week’s clash.

Barcelona and Real Madrid did not miss their chances to arrive at next week's Clásico in good form, collecting 3-0 and 5-0 wins respectively. Athletic Bilbao could have finished their bad streak by beating Celta de Vigo at home, but the Galician scored the equalizer with 20 minutes to go, ruining that.

Levante 0-5 Real Madrid

Los Blancos picked up an easy win thanks to a brace by Cristiano Ronaldo and an brilliant performance -- with a goal -- by Isco, who will certainly be looking to earn a starting spot against FC Barcelona in El Clásico. Ronaldo can't stop scoring, and he already has notched up 15 goals over just seven games. Chicharito and James Rodriguez added goals to complete this blowout win.

Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Celta de Vigo

Athletic are still at the bottom of the Liga BBVA table, having earned just five points in eight matches. Considering that this side should be fighting for a spot in next year’s Champions League, today’s 1-1 draw against Celta de Vigo could haunt Bilbao at the end of the season. They were ahead for most of the game after Aritz Aduriz’s goal from the penalty spot just six minutes into the game, but Vigo managed to get the draw with 20 minutes to go. Bilbao desperately need a win to get away from this terrible spell they’re going through.

FC Barcelona 3-0 Eibar

Not as brilliant and comfortable as the scoreboard suggests, Barcelona still earned the three points. Eibar had two very good goal-scoring opportunities before Xavi's 60th minute-goal, but their finishing wasn't at Barcelona's level. Neymar and Lionel Messi scored as well. They have notched eight and seven goals respectively.

Córdoba 1-2 Málaga

Córdoba are not good enough for this league, and they’re showing it. The stats tell the story of this game, as Córdoba were only able to shoot on target once in comparison to Málaga’s four. Málaga were clearly the better team here and they earned a well-deserved win. They were up 2-0 at half time and Córdoba could do nothing about it during the second half, only managing a last minute goal.
