Chievo Verona have parted ways with manager Eugenio Corini, the club have confirmed. Yesterday’s 3-0 loss to AS Roma leaves the Flying Donkeys on just four points for the season, having managed just one point from their last five matches.
Chievo Verona part ways with Eugenio Corini
After a 3-0 loss to Roma on Saturday, Chievo are shaking things up, starting first with the coach.
The loss leaves Chievo in 17th, not yet inside the relegation zone -- but only thanks to superior goal difference, which doesn’t even play a role in determining the final standings in Serie A. However, even a point from either Parma or Palermo will push the Flying Donkeys down into the drop, and apparently, club leadership isn’t too pleased.
Still, it’s hard to see why they’d choose to pull the plug after a loss to Roma, one of the league’s title contenders. Yet it’s unlikely Corini is too worried -- Chievo sacked him last year as well, only to bring him back in November after Giuseppe Sannino failed to impress. The club have managed to just barely cling on to Serie A survival the past few years, but it’s been Corini that’s bailed them out the past two seasons, so he just might be back.
