Europa League scores: Everton and Tottenham disappoint while Serie A sides impress

Ian Walton

The Europa League was not kind to the two Premier League representatives on Thursday, as they both could only manage draws. Tottenham Hotspur gave away two points late by conceding a penalty against Besiktas, while Everton had to fight back just to earn a draw against Krasnodar.

It was a bit day for the four Serie A sides in the tournament, who were all excellent. Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Napoli and Inter Milan all recorded shoutout wins to solidify their positions.

In the most exciting game of the day, defending champions Sevilla grabbed a point despite going down to 10 men. Rijeka led them 2-0, but Sevilla somehow fought back on the road, with Stephane Mbia scoring the winner in stoppage time.

Bundesliga sides had a tough day, with Wolfsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach both drawing 1-1. Wolfsburg’s opponents, Lille, joined fellow Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in drawing, but Guingamp impressed in a win over PAOK.

Here are all the results.
