Defensor Bolivar were losing 4-1 to La Bocana later in the first leg of their Copa Peru semifinal and had two men sent off, so they were getting their behinds kicked with the potential for more behind kicking.
Referee abandons match after 5 players pretend to be hurt at same time
Innovative tactics.

Their solution? Everyone pretend to be hurt.
Everyone might be an exaggeration, but they had five players fall to the ground and pretend to be hurt, which is more than they had players standing upright (four).
The goal was to the get the match abandoned. The rules require that teams have at least seven players playing and, after the “injuries,” they only had four.
The referee did as they wished, abandoning the match with eight minutes left to play, but it may not have the payoff they hoped. The FA is debating what to do about the second leg, including making Bolivar forfeit it. Personally, I would make them play the match with just four players, while five others lay on the ground and if they get stepped on, they get stepped on.
As for La Bocana’s opinion, they posted the video online simply to embarrass Bolivar.
