El Clásico is a big deal. Like 640 journalists from 210 media agencies big.
Over 600 journalists accredited for El Clásico
The anticipation for El Clásico is surreal.
That is how many people Real Madrid has accredited for their first clash against Barcelona this season. Those people have come to see Luis Suarez's Barcelona debut. They have come to see Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo. They have come to see arguably the biggest rivalry in professional sports.
And they have come from far and wide, according to Real Madrid:
Media agencies from Africa, Germany, Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, the UAE, the USA, France, Greece, Hungary, England, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Miami, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romani, Sweden, Switzerland and Venezuela will be covering the match.
Every Clásico brings out every media outlet around. It's the nature of the rivalry, but there are additional storylines this time around, thanks to Suarez, Barcelona's hot start and Real Madrid's unreal form over the last month.
But if you think 640 journalists is unprecedented, think again:
In terms of the number of requests for accreditation received, due to the wide range of television channels, it is up there with the most anticipated La Liga matches and Clásicos.
“It is up there.” Not, “it is the most anticipated,” just up there. This rivalry is insane, and we are lucky to get another on on Saturday.
