Over the past month or so, Bradley Wright-Phillips' pursuit of Major League Soccer's single-season goals record had started to sputter out as the former English lower-division scoring dynamo had scored just once in his past four games. But needing two goals to tie the record in his final game, Wright-Phillips did just that.

The 29-year-old New York Red Bulls forward scored one goal in the first half and then caught Chris Wondolowski and Roy Lassiter with a hard-earned goal in the 71st minute. Wright-Phillips needed to fight off Sporting Kansas City's Aurilien Collin then worked his way around a defender before firing a low shot past Eric Kronberg for No. 27.
Wright-Phillips is the younger brother of Queens Park Rangers winger Shaun Wright-Phillips and the son of Ian Wright, the former Arsenal forward. Bradley Wright-Phillips joined the Red Bulls last season, failing to score in seven matches.
