Everything we know about MLS expansion team Los Angeles FC

Less than a week after Major League Soccer announced that Chivas USA would be folding, with a new Los Angeles club taking their place in 2017, They’re holding a press conference to announce everything at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, but the club will be tentatively named Los Angeles FC (it’s a placeholder) and their website has already gone live with all kinds of goodies.

Here’s what it looks like.

They have a page with all of their owners as well, and they state that they’re looking for more. From left to right, the three guys on the top are the big founding partners, Henry Nguyen, Tom Penn and Peter Guber. Also included are Mia Hamm, her husband Nomar Garciaparra, Vincent Tan, Magic Johnson and motivational speaker Tony Robbins.

They’re also scouting potential locations for a new stadium, since they don’t plan on sharing the StubHub Center with the LA Galaxy. Here’s a map with a bunch of potential sites.

All of this is tied together with a message of being about their fans and a club for the people, not for the ownership. They’re asking people to sign up to be “original” supporters, asking for input on where they should locate the stadium, and are indicating that fans will have a vote in the team’s colors and logo. So far, so good for LA2.
