Landon Donovan already owns the Major League Soccer record for career goals. Now, he has the assists record to go along with it.
Watch Landon Donovan set the MLS career assists record

The 32-year-old, who has already announced this will be his final professional season, notched the record breaker in the 25th minute, sliding a pass out to the right wing to A.J. DeLaGarza, whose cross was volleyed home by Robbie Keane. The goal gave the LA Galaxy a 2-0 lead over Toronto FC.
Although it was a secondary assist, it counted just the same. Donovan now has 136 career assists, one more than previous record holder Steve Ralston and 22 more than the legendary Carlos Valderrama. Donovan set the record in 330 matches while Ralston needed 378 appearances. Valderrama played in just 178 matches during his seven-year MLS career.
Donovan now has a career-best 19 assists for the season. With one more he’d become just the second player in MLS history to register 20 assists, joining Valderrama who set the record with 26 in 2000.
