Alan Gordon pounds beer, cements folk-hero status

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Alan Gordon has never been a great player, scoring more than five goals in just one of his 11 seasons. But he's made a name for himself by putting in an honest effort and earning a moniker as a bit of an everyman.

That status has only been bolstered since a late-season trade that sent him back to the LA Galaxy, the team who gave him his professional start. In less than 400 minutes, Gordon already has five goals. No. 9 came on Saturday in the Galaxy's 3-0 dismantling of Toronto FC. It was a quite a strike, it should be said, coming from about 25 yards out.

But what fans are probably going to remember is that after the game, Gordon joined the Galaxy supporters and pounded a beer right there on the field. Not bad, not bad.

Well done, Gordo.
