Juan Mata replaces Wayne Rooney while Everton are without Coleman, McCarthy

A couple of injury-ravaged teams have odd lineups.

Clive Brunskill

There are no surprises in the starting lineups for Manchester United and Everton, but injuries have forced some makeshift teams.

The biggest news is that none of Everton's questionable players are able to play. All of Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Sylvain Distin have been left out of the Toffees' 18-man squad. This means John Stones plays in the center of defense, Tony Hibbert gets a rare start in a big game and Muhamed Besic gets another shot in midfield.

Much has been made of United's injuries in defense, but they've piled up just as many in midfield, and are using players there who had never played the position a couple years ago. Daley Blind will sit at the base of United's diamond, with Angel Di Maria and Antonio Valencia in front of him. Patrick McNair keeps his place ahead of Tyler Blackett, while Juan Mata replaces Wayne Rooney up top.

Manchester United starting lineup (4-4-2 diamond): David De Gea; Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Patrick McNair, Rafael; Daley Blind, Angel Di Maria, Antonio Valencia, Juan Mata; Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao

Everton starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka, John Stones, Tony Hibbert; Gareth Barry, Muhamed Besic; Steven Pienaar, Steven Naismith, Aiden McGeady; Romelu Lukaku
