Bad news, Arsenal and Germany fans. Attacking midfielder Mesut Özil has torn ligaments in his knee, and will be out for 10-to-12 weeks.

BREAKING: @MesutOzil1088 out for 10-12 weeks with partial lateral collateral ligament tear in left knee. More to follow... Get well soon!
— Germany (@DFB_Team_EN) October 8, 2014 Precisely when Özil sustained the injury is unclear; he played 90 minutes on Sunday against Chelsea, albeit largely on the periphery of the action. Though he joined up with the German national side ahead of their European Championship qualifiers this week, he was immediately sent for scans on his knee, and will now presumably head back to London to receive treatment. Assuming that estimate is correct, among the games Özil will miss are the November fixtures against Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal have yet to comment, but Özil is merely the latest addition to an already-groaning injury list. His midfield colleagues Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Serge Gnabry and Theo Walcott are all currently crocked — though Walcott and Arteta are scheduled to return soon — along with strikers Yaya Sanogo and Olivier Giroud, and right-back Mathieu Debuchy. This, we think, definitely counts as an injury crisis.
