Arsenal vs. Burnley: Final score 3-0, Alexis Sanchez incredible in Gunners’ win

It was the Alexis Sanchez Show.

Arsenal picked up a rather comfortable three points with a 3-0 win over Burnley Saturday, and it was almost entirely due to Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean was absolutely brilliant, scoring two goals and creating nearly every chance for the Gunners to make sure that they were on the front foot, even as the rest of the team struggled.

The Gunners had most of the ball, as expected, but they couldn't do much with it. Santi Cazorla and Mikel Arteta were both sloppy on the ball, Oxlade-Chamberlain couldn't break through and Danny Welbeck's finishing was atrocious. That left Alexis to do it all, and he did. He hit great passes from deep, ran at defenders and played his teammates in repeatedly. Unfortunately, it didn't lead to much.

Welbeck's best chance looked goal-bound, but it was blocked by Kieran Trippier. Cazorla had a chance on the volley, but he fired wide and too often, Alexis' good passes didn't even render a shot. Finally, Alexis had a couple tries of his own, but Tom Heaton did well to save them both.

The match was still scoreless in the 70th minute and Burnley started to believe they would get a draw, but Alexis broke their hearts. He got on the end of a cross from Calum Chambers and headed home the go-ahead goal, much to the relief of the Gunners.

Two minutes later, Chambers did the scoring when he knocked home a rebound, but just to remind everyone who the star was on this night, Alexis added one more goal in the 90th minute. He was absolutely superb and deserved the two goals, as well as the three points.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Monreal, Chambers, Arteta (Ramsey 63’), Oxlade-Chamberlain (Walcott 80’), Alexis, Cazorla, Flamini, Welbeck (Podolski 80’).

Goals: Alexis 70’ 90’, Chambers 72’.

Burnley: Heaton, Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Ward, Marney (Chalobah 80’), Jones, Boyd, Arfield, Ings, Sordell (Jutkiewicz 69’).
