Back in the first week of October, Mesut Özil was ruled out for 10 to 12 weeks with a knee injury by Germany's doctors. If he needed to miss the full 12 weeks, that would have meant he could return in the second week of January. Then, strangely, Arsene Wenger came out and said that Özil would miss "at least six weeks," giving Arsenal fans hope that he could come back sooner than expected. As it turns out, Wenger was wrong.
Mesut Özil will be out until January, as originally anticipated
But way to get everyone’s hopes up, Arsene.

News came out on Thursday that Arsenal had been “dealt a blow,” receiving news that Özil would miss another seven weeks. This means that he’ll ultimately miss the exact amount of time that Germany said he’d miss in the first place, which really doesn’t constitute a fresh “blow” at all.
Without Özil, Arsenal have essentially been the same team. He wasn’t in great form before picking up the injury and the Gunners have been the same mostly good, but occasionally flimsy side that they were with Özil in the lineup. But, regardless, they’d probably like to have him back as soon as possible.
