Not only does today's match between England and Slovenia have implications for European Championship qualifying, it has historic potential as well. England have done many things in their international football existence, but with Saido Berahino on the bench today they have a chance for another first.
England could see historic debut against Slovenia
Saido Berahino isn’t starting today, but if he comes on as a substitute he’ll be making history for England.

A proud moment for English football tonight if @sberahino makes his full debut. He would become the first refugee to do so
— Jonathan Russell (@JRussellEsq) November 15, 2014 Berahino, who was born in Burundi, signed with West Bromwich Albion's academy less than a year after fleeing to England from his war-torn home at just ten years old. He worked his way through their youth ranks quickly, and was noticed by England's international coaches early on. He's represented England from the U16 level on up, including scoring ten goals in thirteen appearances for the U21 side.
Now 21, Berahino is a burgeoning star for West Brom, becoming a regular in the side last season and scoring seven league goals so far this season. England manager Roy Hodgson finally added him to the senior side after apparently having him in consideration for past callups, and now Berahino has the chance to make a lasting mark on history when he makes his senior debut. He has the talent to become a true star for England, and hopefully he's given many, many opportunities in the senior side to prove just that.
