For 13 seasons, Tim Wiese was a professional goalkeeper, and a pretty good one at that. He’s most known for his time with Werder Bremen, where he made over 200 appearances, some in the UEFA Champions League. He also earned six Germany caps.

But now Wiese, 32, is retired from the game. You might have seen that he’s turned to bodybuidling, as this photo has been shared so many times on social media that no one actually knows where it came from anymore.

— The Football Pools (@footballpools) November 12, 2014 As that tweeter indicates, Wiese’s getting a look from WWE, and for good reason. The promotion has a significant German following and he checks all of their boxes: Legitimate athletic background, intimidating look, enthusiasm for a genre of entertainment many find to be very strange and a big name in a market that doesn’t currently have any performers to call their own.
This isn’t just a fantasy for Wiese or a casual thing for WWE. This is seriously happening. Here’s legendary announcer and former WWE Vice President of Talent Relations, Jim Ross.
"@NotSoAverageJoe: @JRsBBQ any thoughts on ex-goalkeeper Tim Weise?? pic.twitter.com/kjSGsd5gSL I was at his tryout. Lots of charisma. #hopeful

WWE haven’t announced a contract with Wiese yet, but this is past ridiculous pipe dream territory. This is a real thing that’s happening. What a world.
