The USA hope to bounce back from a disappointing performance against Colombia last week and close out 2014 on an up note.
The US fell 2-1 against Colombia on Friday, conceding twice in the final 30 minutes after taking the lead early on a Jozy Altidore penalty kick. It wasn’t a horrible performance considering Colombia is one of the stronger sides in the world, but it also wasn’t particularly inspiring either for United States fans.
There’s hope that one of several young players called in for this round of matches could see time, but chances seem low that Rubio Rubin -- who is ill -- Jordan Morris or Miguel Ibarra will feature, but Bobby Wood could get a shot with Rubin likely out of the starting XI.
Friday's Friendly
The Irish were stunned in stoppage time by Scotland on Friday and now must refocus to face the USA. Losing Robbie Keane -- he returned to the LA Galaxy -- is a blow to the Irish attack, but they still should be able to test the US defense.
DeAndre Yedlin, Jermaine Jones and Lee Nguyen have all been released from national team duty to return to their MLS sides ahead of this weekend's playoff games, while DaMarcus Beasley was also sent home.
