Atlético Madrid will be without first-team center-back João Miranda for a few weeks after the Brazilian picked up a grade-two hamstring injury on international duty. He had to be substituted in the first half of Brazil's 2-1 friendly victory over Austria in Vienna after picking up the problem.
Atlético Madrid suffer Miranda injury blow
The Brazilian center-back picked up the injury in Tuesday’s international friendly against Austria.

The good news for Atléti is that the injury isn’t a grade-three tear, which would require months to heal. Instead, Miranda has suffered an injury somewhere between a tweak and a tear, and should be back much quicker. According to Atléti, the injury “requires physical therapy and rest from sport activities until next week, when he can start an alternative training. He’s pending evaluation.”
They’ll be eager to have Miranda back in action as quickly as possible, as he has been an integral part of their excellent defensive unit alongside fellow center-back Diego Godín. The 30-year-old has been persistently linked with a move to Manchester United since the summer.
