New York Red Bulls vs. DC United live stream: How to watch the 2014 MLS Playoffs online

MLS continues to save you from their weird TV deal.

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a stunning run from worst to first in the East for D.C. United, and on Saturday, they get a chance to prove that they’re for real against their biggest rivals, the New York Red Bulls (4 p.m. ET, Univision Deportes).

This season, each team has gotten the better of the other at home, winning and keeping a clean sheet on each occasion. Two seasons ago, these teams played an infamous playoff series that featured a game cancelled due to snow after DC United fans made the trip up I-95 in a blizzard. Despite that setback, DC were able to beat New York in that series to advance.

D.C. United's injury list hurts them quite a bit, though they've got some good news recently. Attacker Chris Rolfe could play some part, while Luis Silva is nearing fitness and Sean Franklin is ready to start. However, veteran defender Jeff Parke, backup goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra and striker Conor Doyle should all miss out. The Red Bulls have fewer problems, but will be missing Bobby Convey and Michael Bustamante.

Because Univision Deportes streaming isn’t available to most people, MLS has been nice enough to offer a free live stream of the game on their website. However, normal MLS Live blackout restrictions apply, so that stream will not be available to you if you live in the DC or New York metro areas. You’ll have to catch the game on local TV, which is CSN in Washington or MSG in New York. The game is also on MLS Live, if you are a paid subscriber to that service.

MLS Live will also be carrying the game in Canada. For listings from more countries, check out Live Soccer TV.
