Thomas Vermaelen will not play in Barcelona's Champions League match against APOELO Tuesday and is unlikely to play this weekend against Valencia. The defender was expected to make his debut for the club this week, but he has suffered an injury setback and his debut is once again in doubt.
Thomas Vermaelen suffers another injury setback

Vermaelen was originally injured at the World Cup. It wasn’t considered a serious injury so several clubs spent July and August trying to buy him before Barcelona finally got him for a €19 million transfer fee. They thought he would be available shortly after the start of the season, but he hasn’t been able to get fit yet.
The 29-year-old was apparently making good progress recently. That has been the case before, and he even played in a youth team match at the end of September, but the club were feeling especially good about his status in recent weeks. That was until Vermaelen came up with a sore right hamstring Sunday and the defender missed training as a result. Now his return date is back up in the air, but it definitely will not be Tuesday as Barcelona continue to wait for the Belgian to make his first appearance in a blue and red shirt.
