It appears that Arsenal will be going through the busy holiday period with only two central midfielders. Mikel Arteta picked up an injury against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, and it appears that it'll be a serious one. Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph is reporting that he's facing a long layoff with a bad calf injury.
Arsenal add Mikel Arteta to ridiculous injury list
This is equal parts comical and sad.

Arsenal are still waiting on a timetable for the return of Jack Wilshere, but even if he doesn't require surgery for injured ankle ligaments, he'll still be out for a few weeks. Abou Diaby is also out injured, as per usual, so only Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini remain.
In the absence of three midfielders (and Mesut Özil), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla will probably have to play some central midfield. And the Gunners have some big matches coming up, against Southampton on December 3 and Liverpool on December 21. Trips away to Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion aren't exactly gimme wins either.
