DC United supporters came out in force

There’s nothing quite like their sideline full of fans.

Back before Timbers Army, Emerald City Supporters or even the various red-clad groups at Toronto FC, United fans were creating a legendary atmosphere that included impressive tifo displays and bouncing stands that ran the length of RFK Stadium’s sideline.

It’s been awhile since United’s fans were considered the class of the league, but they issued an impressive reminder of how quickly they could come back. Here’s how they looked on Saturday as United faced off against the New York Red Bulls in the second leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Say what you will about the atmosphere those other groups all bring, but there’s no sight quite like this in MLS. Thousands of fans jumping in unison and creating what has to be a public-safety hazard. Not bad, guys, not bad.
