Club World Cup relocates because Rabat is a marsh

That’s -- that’s not really a football pitch.

It’s pretty clear how unplayable the pitch is at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, during the opening seconds of this video, but keep watching. It gets worse and worse and worse, until the players are trudging around in a marsh. Mariano Pavone slides into the biggest puddle you’ll ever see on a football pitch after scoring the winner in extra time.

That pitch is clearly not going to be ready for another game anytime soon, so the semifinal between Real Madrid and Cruz Azul has been moved to Marrakech. If you’re a fan traveling to see Cruz Azul or Madrid, have fun getting your plane tickets switched!
