Dortmund sign midfielder Kevin Kampl from Red Bull Salzburg

The deal is reportedly worth between 10 and 12 million euros.

With his team stuck in 17th place, Borussia Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp has already started working to improve his roster during the winter break. News broke on Monday that BVB made their first move ahead of the transfer window, announcing the signing of midfielder Kevin Kampl from Red Bull Salzburg on Twitter.

According to Kicker, the deal is worth between €10 and €12 million, with Kampl having agreed to a new contract with the German club through 2019.

The 24-year-old Slovenian international would give Klopp another option on the right side to go with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. With Henrikh Mkhitaryan expected to be sidelined until nearly February, the Dortmund midfield was getting a bit thin.

In addition, there's the ever hanging specter of Marco Reus' possible departure hanging over the club. The addition of Kampl -- along with his stunning hair, an apparent requirement to play in the Dortmund midfield -- could be viewed as possible precursor to that happening ... or Klopp just adding some more firepower to his attack.

Kampl has made 21 appearances for Salzburg this season with seven goals scored.
