The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) have rejected Barcelona's appeal against a punishment for breaching transfer regulations. This is the second time the Catalan giants have had an appeal turned down since the original punishment was handed down in April. As such, Barça are still not permitted to make any signings in the next two transfer windows, and will also have to pay a fine of 450,000 Swiss francs.
Barcelona transfer ban upheld by CAS
The Catalan club remain unable to sign any new players until 2016.
Barcelona argued in front of the tribunal that the irregularities were administrative rather than sporting, though that hasn’t been enough to have their punishment reduced.

— AS English (@English_AS) December 30, 2014 Though Barça are unable to sign new players, they are still able to renew any expiring contracts of current squad members, and players scheduled to return on loan to their parent club are still permitted to do so.
Barcelona have made a good start to the Spanish league season, and sit a point adrift of league leaders Real Madrid after 16 matches.
