Atlético Madrid had little chance overturning a 3-0 deficit from the first leg but two first-half penalties from Cristiano Ronaldo made sure it wasn’t going to happen. Madrid easily dispatched their city rivals 2-0 on the day and 5-0 on aggregate to advance to the Copa del Rey final.

Real Madrid needed only seven minutes to expand their lead and put the final nail in Atléti's coffin.
Cristiano Ronaldo went down in the box after minimal contact from behind and drew a penalty for Madrid. Javi Manquillo was deemed the guilty party on the foul and the victim himself took the penalty and easily beat Daniel Aranzubía to give Los Blancos a 1-0 lead and an away goal as well.
Atléti showed a sign of life in the 12th minute and early got their first goal of the tie when Raúl García’s shot from 20-yards out eluded Iker Casillas. Unfortunately, Los Colchoneros’ luck continued to be poor and the ball hammered off the post.
Four minutes later Atléti horrible semifinal continued as Emiliano Insua tripped up Gareth Bale inside the box, giving Madrid their second penalty of the first half. Ronaldo again stepped up to the spot and beat Aranzubía to the exact same place, lower left corner, as he did on the first penalty to make it 2-0.
Things got ugly at halftime as Ronaldo was hit by a lighter thrown from the stands as he left the pitch. As the second half got underway, Atléti fans in one section of the stadium were escorted out after some pushing and shoving broke out.
Beyond that there was little that happened on the pitch as Madrid went into cruise control and finished off the match to advance to the final against either Real Sociedad or Barcelona, who play tomorrow.
