Juventus vs. Torino: Preview and TV schedule

With a widely-predicted 3-1 victory over Chievo last weekend, Juventus maintained their nine-point advantage at the top of Serie A and extended their unbeaten run in the league to sixteen matches. They are seemingly cruising towards a third consecutive scudetto and will want to make a statement in the derby match with Torino, having not lost to their city rivals since April 1995 and having won 11 of the 15 matches since then, split between the Stadio Delle Alpi, the Stadio Olimpico and the Juventus Stadium.

Despite Juve's imperious form, this could be seen as Torino's best chance in years to gain a derby victory. Having cruised to a solid mid-table position in their first season back in the top flight, the Granata are now building on that performance and currently sit seventh, equal on points with both Parma and Hellas Verona and only three behind stalling Inter in fifth. They are engaged in a four-way battle for a place in next season's Europa League and it will be interesting to see whether Inter regain their form and pull away with their more recent experience of fighting for a European place.

Torino have been propelled to their elevated position by stellar displays from Ciro Immobile, with 13 goals and Alessio Cerci, with 11. The careers of both of these players have followed a similar path, coming through the ranks at a big club before impressing out on loan then flattering to deceive. However, they seem to have formed an understanding together, and under the tutelage of Giampiero Ventura are now both pushing for inclusion into Italy's World Cup squad.

Juventus have problems in defence with Giorgio Chiellini out and Andrea Barzagli a doubt meaning that former Torino man Angelo Ogbonna could play a role. Aside from the banned Jean-François Gillet, Torino have question marks hanging over Alessandro Gazzi and Barreto.
