How to get sent off 20 seconds into a game

Alejandro Bernal doesn’t even need to get his kit washed.

The crowd filed into Estadio Atanasio Girardot for a highly anticipated Copa Libertadores clash and minutes later, Atletico Nacional and Nacional walked onto the pitch. The teams shook hands, they took their place on the field, the referee blew the whistle for the match to start and the match was underway.

Twenty seconds later, Alejandro Bernal’s day was over.

That’s a red card in 20 seconds. Apparently stomping on an opponent’s ankle is a no-no, even at the beginning of the match. Go figure.

Things that last longer than Bernal’s match:

- Martin Demichelis running the 40.
- Ashley Young rolling in agony after not being touched.
- A Zinedine Zidane haircut.
- Brek Shea's loan at Barnsley.

Amazingly, despite playing essentially the entire match down a man, Atletico Nacional scored two goals in the last 20 minutes to get a 2-2 draw.
